UFC fighter Conor McGregor has declined to press charges against teammates of his UFC 229 opponent, Khabib Nurmagomedov, after a brawl erupted following their much-hyped fight.
UFC president Dana White said during the press conference after the event that McGregor wouldn’t file a police report against the men who came into the octagon and tried to attack him.
Nurmagomedov defeated McGregor via a fourth-round submission at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Nurmagomedov then jumped the cage and attacked McGregor’s training partner, Dillon Danis. During the crowd brawl, three of Nurmagomedov’s teammates tried to attack McGregor, who swung at a man who climbed into the cage next to him.
The fighters who tried to attack McGregor won’t fight in the organization, White said. “The guys who jumped in will never fight here,” White said. “They’ll never fight here.”
The Nevada Athletic Commission also will investigate the matter, and Nurmagomedov’s $2 million guaranteed fight purse is being upheld, executive director Bob Bennett told MMA Fighting. Nurmagomedov also could face a suspension and his title may be stripped, White said.
“We’ll see how this thing plays out,” White said. “I’ve been doing this for 18 years, and I couldn’t be more disappointed. I’m not even mad. I’m just really disappointed.”
