Carrie Underwood became emotional while receiving her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The successful country singer choked up while acknowledging her success and the people in her life.
“I’ve been so blessed in my life to have so many people that have ... Crap. I’m crying ... so many people who have believed in me. I’m so blessed to be born into a family who are here today—my mom is crying too, yeah—and not only just were they an incredible family but they were incredibly encouraging.”
Her powerful singing voice turned thin and high-pitched while she spoke at the ceremony. Underwood was accompanied by her husband, retired pro hockey player Mike Fisher, and their son, Isaiah Michael Fisher.
Underwood’s Rise to Fame
Music producer Simon Cowell also attended the function and spoke about Underwood’s rise to fame from its beginnings, when she competed on “American Idol” Season 4 and won.“We were having the worst ‘American Idol’ season I‘d ever had in my life to the point where ’You know what? We might as well say goodbye now.‘ The whole show was what I call gray and white. It was nothing. Then this shy lady walks in and sings ’I Can’t Make You Love Me' and the show turned to full color at that point. That was the effect you, Carrie, had on me, the producers, and the other judges that day. I thought we may have found a great artist here and we did.”
“Apart from being a great artist, you’re a role model, you’re a very sweet person like me. No, no, no. Not that I’m sweet. It was a lead on to something else. I was going to say ‘Like me, we both love animals.’ And it could not be more appropriate that a star is getting a star today.”
Country singer Brad Paisley also spoke at the ceremony.
“I think of the artists that will be recording here at Capitol Records that are going to walk out here one night drunk and throw up on the star of one of the most important artists we'll ever have in our format. We love you, Carrie.”
