In the early hours of Friday morning, a devastating fire engulfed the hillside Studio City residence of model and actress Cara Delevingne, burning for over two hours.
Located on the 3000 block of North Oakdell Lane, adjacent to Fryman Canyon Park, the fire drew a swift response from firefighters around 4 a.m. The flames and billowing smoke from the two-story house were visible from nearby freeways, underscoring the severity of the situation.
The fire, which originated at the rear of the 6,650-square-foot mansion built in 1971, quickly spread to the attic, causing extensive damage.
Despite the valiant efforts of the Los Angeles Fire Department, details regarding the cause of the fire remained undisclosed. Nevertheless, firefighters managed to extinguish the blaze shortly after 6:30 a.m.
A massive team of 94 firefighters from 13 different engine companies battled the inferno, which not only extended to the attic but also ravaged a section of the roof, leading to its collapse.
The intensity of the situation necessitated the dispatch of four ambulances to the scene. One firefighter sustained injuries after falling from a ladder during the firefighting efforts, although the extent of their injuries remains uncertain. Additionally, one occupant present in the residence at the time of the incident required medical attention for smoke inhalation.
On Thursday, the actress was spotted in London, where she has been starring in Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre. The identity of the individual staying in her home during her absence remains unclear. However, the fire department has confirmed that one occupant suffered minor smoke inhalation during the incident.
“Today, my heart is heavy,” Ms. Delevingne captioned a photo of her beloved pets—two cats who were unhurt by the fire. “I’m in disbelief. Life’s fragility is staggering. Treasure every moment.”
She went on to express her gratitude: “A heartfelt thank you to all the firefighters and everyone who rallied to our aid. They are safe!! Thank you to the firefighters.”
Ms. Delevingne, a 31-year-old native of London, rose to prominence as a fashion model in the early 2010s. Transitioning into acting, she garnered attention for her roles in major films such as the 2016 DC Comics movie “Suicide Squad” and director Luc Besson’s 2017 “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets.”
Her television credits include appearances in the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building” alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez in 2022. Additionally, she graced the screen in FX’s “American Horror Story” in 2023.
