The page was created by Gigi Graciette to support Burrous’s wife Mai Do-Burrous and 9-year-old daughter Isabella.
“As they mourn and deal with this sudden loss, the last thing they need to worry about right now is how to pay for a funeral, Mai finding a job, bills, and other immediate expenses,” stated the campaign page.
The Glendale Fire Department responded to the scene and found Burrous not breathing. He was given CPR and transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

He came into our homes every morning, bringing his endless enthusiasm, childlike curiosity, and wicked sense of humor to brighten our days,” wrote Do Silverstein. “On the weekends, he shared your stories, whether through emails, Hi-5 photos, or tweets. He even let you in on the most special secret of all... where to eat! He did this because he loved connecting with all of you.”
Burrous, the son of a former NASA engineer, launched his two-decade career after graduating from Chapman University with a degree in broadcast journalism, according to KTLA.
In 1999, he joined KGET in Bakersfield as a morning news anchor. It was there that he met his wife, Mai Do-Burrous, a fellow journalist.
In 2003 the couple married and now they share a daughter, Isabella, who’s 9 years old.
After spending 14 years as a reporter and anchor at news stations across the United States—including KGPE in Fresno, KMAX in Sacramento, and WPIX, KTLA’s sister station in New York City—he went to KTLA in 2011.
Burrous told the New York Daily News that he asked for a transfer to California so that his daughter could grow up near her grandparents. The family ended up settling down in Porter Ranch.
At KTLA, he helped extend “Morning News” to seven days a week, anchoring weekends, and covering breaking news on weekday mornings, reported KTLA.
His weekend “Burrous’ Bites” segments were a viewer favorite.
