Actors Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner reunited with their three children this holiday season to give back to those in need.

The former couple—who were married from 2005 to 2018—took part in The Midnight Mission charity event on Thanksgiving Day to feed the homeless community.

Over 2,500 volunteers gather every year in Downtown Los Angeles to serve homeless and near-homeless individuals and families with a warm traditional Thanksgiving meal.

In a street fair set-up, the event features “live music, celebrity appearances, and the distribution of hygiene items to our homeless guests.”

Centered in Skid Row, Midnight Mission is dedicated to helping the homeless population in Southern California, offering emergency services, 12-step recovery, family living, job training, education, and workforce development programs.
In an Instagram post, the shelter said they were honored to have Affleck and Garner join them.

“Their kindness, warmth, and dedication brought so much joy to our Skid Row community. Thank you, Ben and Jennifer, for serving meals and sharing smiles on this special day. Your compassion reminds us all of the true meaning of Thanksgiving — coming together to support one another,” read the post’s caption.

Affleck and Garner were joined by other famous faces and volunteers, pictured alongside actress Sarah Paulson, “Dancing With The Stars” pro Sasha Farber, and former Bachelorette Jenn Tran.

Meanwhile, Affleck is no stranger to giving back, and has continuously shown his support for Midnight Mission over the years.

Speaking to People magazine in 2020, the “Batman” star—who suffered from addiction in the past—said he felt compelled to bring exposure to a cause he believes in and has a strong connection to.

“I found that I get a lot out of giving a little bit of my time to other people. I don’t know that it helps them or not, but I know it’s helpful to me,” he said.

“It’s easy to sort of throw up your hands and say there’s nothing you can do.

“But the truth is there are people who want to make their lives better, who are struggling, who need help and who you can benefit by even doing a little bit, giving a little bit of money or a little bit of time. It’s just a really powerful thing to do to be able to connect with people.”

Garner has also taken on charitable roles, serving as an activist and ambassador for “Save the Children” foundation for 15 years.

The non-profit is dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable children and families across the globe by helping improve access to health care and education.

“I have seen firsthand everything Save the Children does to keep children healthy, happy and safe. Any amount will help make change for children in the U.S. and around the world,” said Garner, who also serves on the board of the foundation.

While Affleck and Garner are no longer married to each other, they continue to co-parent their children—Violet Anne, 18, Seraphina Rose, 15, and Samuel, 12—and enjoy Thanksgiving dinner together. People reported the children also attended The Midnight Mission charity event with their parents.

Currently, Affleck is in divorce proceedings with singer Jennifer Lopez after tying the knot in 2022. Lopez filed for divorce in August of this year.
