Adele has apologized to fans in an emotional video after being forced to pull the plug on her entire 24-date Caesars Palace residency just one day before it was scheduled to begin.
The singer, 33, said she was forced to postpone the residency, which was scheduled to begin Friday at the Colosseum of Las Vegas’ Caesars Palace Hotel, after “delivery delays and COVID” meant her show wasn’t ready in time.
“Half my crew and team are [ill] with COVID and still are, and it’s been impossible to finish the show. And I can’t give you what I have right now, and I’m gutted and I’m sorry it’s so last minute, we’ve been awake for over 30 hours trying to figure it out and we’ve run out of time,” an emotional Adele continued.
“I’m so upset and I’m really embarrassed and so sorry to everyone that traveled to get [to the show]. I’m really, really sorry,” she continued in her video. “We’re going to reschedule all of the dates, we’re on it right now, and I’m gonna finish my show and get it to where it’s supposed to be. So I’m so sorry it isn’t possible. We’ve been up against so much and it just ain’t ready. I’m really sorry.”
However, researchers and health officials are hopeful that the Omicron variant is less severe, and early studies indicate a lower risk of hospitalization from the variant compared to the previously-dominant Delta strain.
“Adele is an incredible artist, supremely dedicated to her music and her fans. Creating a show of this magnitude is incredibly complex,” the statement said. “We fully support Adele and are confident the show she unveils at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will be extraordinary.”
A Caesar’s Entertainment spokesperson told The Epoch Times in an email, “We understand the disappointment surrounding the postponement of ‘Weekends with Adele.’ Adele is an incredible artist, supremely dedicated to her music and her fans. Creating a show of this magnitude is incredibly complex. We fully support Adele and are confident the show she unveils at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace will be extraordinary.”
