Actress Jennifer Garner isn’t slowing down anytime soon, as demonstrated by her rigorous workout routine, proving strength can also come with age.

In a recent video posted to her Instagram stories, the 52-year-old shared a glimpse into her fitness regimen, which includes multiple rounds of elevated box jumping.
The primarily lower body exercise targets your quadriceps, calves, hamstrings, and gluteal muscles by jumping up off the floor to different height levels on boxes.

In the post, Garner gave credit to her trainer, fitness expert Beth Nicely, who has worked with her over the years, especially during action-related film roles.

Speaking to E! News back in 2023, Nicely weighed in on working with Garner, praising her physicality when reprising her role as Elektra in “Deadpool 3.”

“She’s doing harder and more difficult things than she did 20 years ago,” she said at the time.

“It’s cool to train her in this part of her life and to see how someone who is 51 is so badass and stronger than she’s ever been. That’s really inspiring as a trainer, as a woman. She’s the real deal.”

Nicely notes the key to a successful workout is consistency and encourages anyone who is looking to improve their lifestyle to go at their own pace and difficulty level.

“Jennifer Garner’s version of hard is definitely an extreme version of hard,” she said.

“She’s so consistent with her workouts and sometimes it doesn’t equal an hour. ... She’s a mom of three, she runs businesses, she’s an actress and she has a very busy schedule. So whatever amount of time I’ve got with her, we go hard.”

Garner shares three children—Violet Anne, 19, Seraphina Rose, 16, and Samuel, 13—with fellow actor and ex-husband Ben Affleck, and continues to maintain an active lifestyle between juggling work and home life.
The Golden Globe and consecutive Emmy award winner is best known for her role as CIA agent Sydney Bristow in the 2001 television series “Alias,” and a number of blockbuster films including “13 Going on 30,” “Daredevil,” and “Juno.”

Most recently, the actress was seen in Paris, France, filming season two of her Apple TV+ thriller “The Last Thing He Told Me.”

In conjunction with working out, Garner credited her health success to a balanced diet and being an early riser. She also emphasized the importance of challenging oneself both mentally and physically.

“Building your cardiovascular fitness and building your strength—it’s not about how you look, it’s not about how you fit into clothes, it’s about your own strength and pushing yourself further than you think you can go,” she told Women’s Health last year.
According to a 2023 JAMA Network Open study, 20 minutes of additional exercise could make a significant difference in health for individuals over 40 years of age.

The findings suggested incorporating daily physical activity could reduce hospitalization risk for a number of conditions or severe illnesses by up to 23 percent.

Nearly 40 percent of Americans ages 51 and older are overweight, with some 15 million—about one in four adults—who are obese, according to the Health Policy Institute at Georgetown University.
