Hollywood actor Michael Madsen, known for his roles in several Quentin Tarantino films, was arrested in California on Aug. 17 over an alleged domestic violence incident involving his wife.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed on Aug. 19 that Madsen was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge and had been booked into jail at the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station.

The 66-year-old actor was arrested after deputies responded to a call around 12.15 a.m. at 31600 Broad Beach Road in Malibu regarding a “family disturbance,” according to the sheriff’s department.

“The informant stated that a female adult alleged her husband pushed her and locked her out of their residence,” the sheriff’s department said in an emailed statement to The Epoch Times.

An investigation later revealed that Madsen was allegedly involved in a “domestic incident” with his wife, DeAnna Madsen, leading to his arrest.

“The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for filing,” the police statement added.

Madsen was released from custody shortly after posting a $20,000 bond, according to a booking report.

His representative told media outlets that there had been “a disagreement” between Madsen and his wife, expressing hope that the couple could resolve the matter positively.

The misdemeanor charge against the actor was for violating Penal Code 243(e)(1), which carries a penalty of one year in jail. It is not known if Madsen has a legal representative at this time.

Madsen is best known for his roles in several of Tarantino’s films, including “Reservoir Dogs,” “Kill Bill,” and “The Hateful Eight.” He also starred in other films such as “Thelma & Louise,” “Donnie Brasco,” and “Free Willy.”

He has been married to actress DeAnna since 1996, and the couple has three children together. Their eldest son, Hudson Madsen, died from a gunshot wound in a suspected suicide in 2022. Madsen has three other children from his previous marriages.

In April 2019, Madsen faced two misdemeanor charges—driving under the influence of alcohol within 10 years of another DUI offense and driving with .08 percent blood alcohol content within 10 years of another DUI—for drunken driving after he crashed his SUV into a pole in Malibu.

The actor was later sentenced to four days in jail and five years probation due to the accident.

In February 2022, Madsen was again arrested for allegedly trespassing into someone else’s property in Malibu and was released on a $500 bail. His arrest occurred just one month after his son’s death.
