Jeremy Renner is in “critical but stable condition” after being injured in an accident while plowing snow in Nevada over the weekend, a representative for the actor has confirmed.
Renner is believed to be the only person involved in the accident, according to local reports. His publicist didn’t provide further details about the extent of Renner’s injuries or what may have caused the accident.
Renner has been nominated twice for an Oscar for his performances in “The Hurt Locker” and “The Town.”
He currently stars in the Paramount+ series “Mayor of Kingstown” and Marvel’s “Hawkeye” series on Disney+, but is perhaps best known for his roles in the “Avengers” and “Captain America” films as well as in the “Mission Impossible” movie franchise.
The actor, who has a 9-year-old daughter, has a home in Washoe County, Nevada.
‘Lake Tahoe Snowfall Is No Joke’
“Nearly done with sledding hill for the kids” one such post from his Instagram account states. Another photo posted to Instagram by Renner on Dec. 13, 2022, shows heavy snow in the area. He captioned it, “Lake Tahoe snowfall is no joke.”In a video posted to his Instagram account in December 2021, the actor could be seen behind the wheel of an industrial-sized snow thrower.
“I have so much respect for Mother Earth, and Mother Nature … I expect to lose the fight but I'll always give it my best shot,” he wrote alongside the post.
The accident came as almost five feet of snow fell overnight between New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day across the area amid a powerful winter storm that has pummeled much of the United States, resulting in at least 60 weather-related deaths.
The death toll from the storm, which touched down in the United States just before Christmas, is estimated to be around 60 people, with the majority of deaths having occurred in Western New York.
The approval “authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures,” according to a statement from the White House.
More than 400 National Guard soldiers are currently working in Western New York to help with relief efforts.
Renner is next set to appear in the second season of “Mayor of Kingstown,” which begins airing on Jan. 15.
