Actor Nick Pasqual has been charged with attempted murder for the alleged stabbing of his estranged girlfriend, Hollywood makeup artist Allie Shehorn, at her Los Angeles residence earlier this month.

According to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office, the 34-year-old was detained at a border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, where he is awaiting extradition to Los Angeles County. Mr. Pasqual faces charges of one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree residential burglary with a person present, and one count of injuring a girlfriend.

The district attorney’s office alleges that Mr. Pasqual broke into the victim’s home to gain entry and “inflicted great bodily injury upon the victim under circumstances involving domestic violence,” per a press release issued May 29. “It also is alleged that Pasqual personally used a knife during the commission of the crime,” the statement continues.

An officer with the Los Angeles Police Department told The Epoch Times via email that officers responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call in Shadow Hills, California, located just north of Burbank, at approximately 4:42 a.m. on May 23. At the residence, officers found a female with multiple stab wounds, and she was subsequently transported to a local hospital with critical injuries, where she remains in stable condition.

“My thoughts and heartfelt sympathies are with the victim in this horrific incident,” Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón said in a statement.

“Our office, including our Bureau of Victim Services, extends our support and resources to her as she embarks on the long and difficult journey of healing from both the physical and emotional trauma inflicted upon her,” he continued. “This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the individual responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.”

An arraignment hearing has not yet been scheduled. Mr. Pasqual faces a maximum sentence of life in state prison if convicted.

‘Senseless Act of Violence’

Prior to Mr. Pasqual’s arrest, Emily MacDonald and Jed Dornoff, friends of Ms. Shehorn, created a GoFundMe account to raise funds for her extensive medical expenses, which include multiple surgeries for her injuries.

“Recently, [Allie] faced a horrific and senseless act of violence—she was stabbed multiple times by her ex boyfriend. As a result, Allie is now in the hospital fighting for her life, in critical condition,” wrote Ms. MacDonald.

“Allie is a remarkable person, full of warmth, kindness, and love. No one deserves to endure such a traumatic experience, especially someone as compassionate and caring as Allie. The road to recovery will be long and arduous, but with your support, we can help ease her burden and provide the financial assistance she desperately needs,” she continued.

The veteran makeup artist worked on an array of big-name projects, including 2022’s “Fall” and part one and part two of the 2023 sci-fi/action flick “Rebel Moon.”

According to the district attorney’s office, Ms. Shehorn had recently filed a restraining order against Mr. Pasqual, who has an uncredited role in “Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire,” per his IMDb.

On May 25, Mr. Dornoff, a fellow makeup artist, took to Instagram to share an update on Ms. Shehorn’s health status.

“Allie is very stable. Last surgery is today on her left side. She Received more blood, 2 units to be exact. Before the surgery she was Awake and alert. Her ICU Nurse is Trying to see if she can breathe after surgery. So with Tonight or tomorrow she will not have a breathing tube. She has a slight fever from the stab wounds,” he wrote alongside a screenshot of the GoFundMe page.

“She should be after to walk and move normally. The doctors are very confident. But it will be a long road or physical and occupational therapy,” he added.

The following day, Mr. Dornoff shared a photo of himself and Ms. Shehorn, the latter of whom can be seen lying in a hospital bed with a bandaged hand. Apparent knife wounds are also visible across her neck and on her earlobe.

“Breathing and feeding tubes are out,” he captioned. “Allie is able to talk. She is in a lot of pain but remains silly and upbeat.”

In another update, Mr. Dornoff provided additional details about the brutal stabbing, revealing that a woman named Christine—who “is like an adopted mom” to Ms. Shehorn—discovered the makeup artist following the harrowing incident “and saved her.”

“She is very brave and acted fast when she found Allie bleeding out. Thank you Christine for saving her life,” he wrote.

After indicating that Ms. Shehorn had been moved out of the intensive care unit, Mr. Dornoff revealed in an Instagram post published on May 29 that she “is making positive steps to her recovery,” sharing an image of Ms. Shehorn walking around a hospital with the assistance of a walker.

“It’s still a very long road but she is facing it with courage and determination,” he wrote.
