Actor Brian Austin Green, who found fame on Fox’s 1990s teen drama “Beverly Hills, 90210,” is on the mend after undergoing emergency surgery last week for a ruptured appendix.
“I had a perforated appendix—not quite burst, but just before,” he told his followers. “I went to a couple of different emergency rooms in the [Los Angeles San Fernando Valley] around where I live—it was really, really crowded, so I ended up leaving.”
Green made his way to the emergency room at Providence-Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Tarzana, located about 20 miles outside of Downtown Los Angeles.
“They were fantastic—they got me in right away, got me right into surgery,” he said.
“The after-care was phenomenal. I mean, when I tell you every single person that was there was incredibly kind and loving and supportive and helpful, I mean it. Every single person.”
He noted that the procedure had been his first major surgery.
“Everyone at the hospital, thank you so much for everything you did in taking care of me,” he said.
Appendicitis is a condition that occurs when the appendix—a small, finger-shaped pouch that is attached to the large intestine—becomes inflamed or infected.
If left untreated, small holes or tears can form in the appendix wall, potentially allowing bacteria and stool to leak into the abdomen.
Symptoms of a ruptured appendix, which is generally treated with a combination of antibiotics and surgery, may include abdominal pain, fever, and loss of appetite.
After sharing his health update, Green received many supportive comments from his fans.
“That is why the [other hospitals] were full. It was meant for you to be put in the right hands and with the best care,” one follower wrote.
“Happy you are doing better!! Glad they took good care of you. That’s nice to hear,” another shared.

Before landing his breakout role in 1990 on “Beverly Hills, 90210,” Green made his first major acting debut with the 1985 telefilm “The Canterville Ghost.”
He went on to appear in various television shows throughout that decade, such as “Highway to Heaven” and “Knots Landing,” as well as the 1989 film “Adventures in Babysitting,” starring actress Elisabeth Shue.
Green is also known for his work on the television series “Freddie,” “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” “Smallville,” “Desperate Housewives,” “Wedding Band,” and “Anger Management.”
In 2019, Green and his fellow “Beverly Hills, 90210” castmates played fictionalized versions of themselves in the Fox comedy drama revival “BH90210.” The scripted show was canceled after one season.
Green shares a 2-year-old son, Zane, with his fiancée, Australian dancer Sharna Burgess. He also has four children from previous relationships: Kassius, 21, whom he welcomed with his former partner, actress Vanessa Marcil, and sons Noah, 12, Bodhi, 11, and Journey, 8, whom he shares with his ex-wife, actress Megan Fox.
