When EarthX (originally Earth Day Texas) was founded in 2010, the organization envisioned creating a space where everyone could come together to find meaningful solutions to enrich and protect our planet, without regard to politics or philosophical differences. Now, more than a decade later, that vision has become EarthX, which annually hosts the EarthxExpo, the largest green gathering in the world. EarthX returns to Dallas’ Fair Park April 21–23 where it continues to further the organization’s mission, which includes creating partnerships and platforms that amplify and accelerate the work of organizations, governments, and individuals on the frontlines of the world’s most pressing environmental challenges.
EarthX is the world’s largest green gathering, with more than 100,000 people visiting the free Expo, which spreads across much of the 277 acres of the massive Fair Park complex. Included within the Expo grounds are 18 stages, each of which hosts dozens of speakers and panels, a dozen world-class AR/VR experiences, and hundreds of exhibits showcasing the latest products and services in the sustainability space.
The event has an unparalleled reputation for convening diverse viewpoints and opinions and bringing people together to tackle important issues facing our planet.
Business leaders from across the globe will convene at EarthX’s Congress of Conferences, a collection of carefully curated events that attract the world’s foremost environmentalists, conservationists, scientists, academics, entrepreneurs, advocates, and political leaders engaged in the environmental space today. These leaders and influencers come from a wide range of disciplines, interests, and perspectives, and represent a broad spectrum of initiatives and efforts around the globe.
EarthX organizers are proud to bring together thousands of people for this year’s EarthX celebration. The event has grown to include an enormous international following, with delegations coming from the United Nations, participation by more than 150 Mexican mayors, and attendees from dozens of countries.
EarthX leadership is particularly proud of the efforts the organization has made to engage children, teens, and young adults as they learn about the role they play in sustainability.
“There are no quick-fix solutions for the challenges facing our planet,” said Dan Russell of EarthX. “To create meaningful change for our planet, we need the commitment of future generations, and we want to share with them the ways in which each of us plays a role in our environment.”
On Friday, April 21, EarthX will host thousands of students on field trips that have been designed to meet the science and social studies goals of local school districts. Throughout the three-day event, families will experience an amazing array of experiential opportunities designed to intertwine learning and entertainment seamlessly.
For example, the massive Science On a Sphere is a room-sized, global display system that projects visualizations of planetary data onto a ten-foot diameter sphere to help illustrate science in new and interesting ways and is a favorite of people of all ages. Additional educational experiences are presented with Dallas ISD’s traveling planetarium, animals from the Dallas Zoo, and hands-on learning from the team at the Dallas Aquarium.
New this year at EarthX is a massive pavilion hoping to engage teens and young adults in meaningful ways. The NextGen Pavilion is a dedicated area specifically designed to immerse young adults between the ages of 15 and 30 in the environmental movement. This interactive zone will offer two days of enriching programming, including discussions about university environmental degrees, Q&A panels with sustainability professionals, and opportunities to connect with local organizations.
Additionally, the pavilion will host a “Green Career Zone” where knowledgeable facilitators will be available to review résumés, craft cover letters, take free headshots, and connect young people with job opportunities in the environmental sector. The aim is to empower and inspire the younger generation to get involved in the environmental movement, while also providing them with practical resources and tools to build a successful career in this field.
Additional experiences at EarthX include an impressive skateboarding halfpipe that houses a first-of-its-kind hydroponic garden. In addition to showcasing top skateboarding talent in gravity-defying stunts, the 4DWN Experience will be a circular journey through the life cycle of food, the importance of outdoor recreation, exercise, art, and community. The whole experience will be in the flow of a globe, showcasing the importance of each individual’s impact on the world around us.
