Earthquake Today in Ohio: Athens, Nelsonville Residents Feel Quake

An earthquake hit the area around Athens, Ohio, located near Columbus, on Wednesday afternoon. The 3.5-magnitude quake hit near Nelsonville, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

An earthquake hit the area around Athens, Ohio, located near Columbus, on Wednesday afternoon. The 3.5-magnitude quake hit near Nelsonville, the U.S. Geological Survey said.

After 1 p.m., users on Twitter said they felt  an earthquake around Athens, located around 50 miles from Columbus.

The quake hit at around 4.9 miles deep, and hit two miles from Nelsonville, 9 miles from Athens, 29 miles from Lancaster, and 35 miles from Vienna.

“Um did we just have an earthquake Wtf is going on,” wrote one user.

Another added: “EARTHQUAKE IN ATHENS, EVERYONE TO THE BARS!”
