Greg Abbott is deploying around 3,000 National Guard members to the border in the coming weeks. The guard members will work with Texas Department of Public Safety officers. They will only arrest single adult men who trespass onto some 142 parcels of private ranch lands to get into Texas. They will not arrest adult women, family groups, or unaccompanied minors.

According to available southern border data dating back to 1960, the previous record was 1.64 million border arrests in 2000.
