House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says they’re setting up an independent body to investigate the breach of the Capitol on  Jan. 6. She’s also facing questions about her actions before, during, and after the breach. House Republicans are asking Pelosi why the National Guard needs to be deployed at the Capital until possibly this fall.

Minneapolis is set to spend millions of dollars to recruit more police officers after unrest last summer saw an unprecedented number of police officers resign or go on leave. Some residents complained about an increase in violent crime and longer police response times. They are pushing to get more officers hired.

Utah’s governor signs a new bill loosening his state’s concealed carry gun rules. The law also increases funding for suicide prevention efforts.
