Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison has confirmed up to $600 million (US$470 million) will be invested to ensure the completion of a 660 MW (megawatt) open cycle gas-fired power station in the Hunter Valley of New South Wales (NSW).
The project will be overseen by the federally-funded Snowy Hydro energy company and is part of the government’s targeted plan to utilise gas in Australia’s transition to a lowered emissions future.
