Smartphone footage exposed a woman beating a naked boy, whose hands were bound, on the balcony of a high-rise condo in mainland China. Police confirmed that the woman is the boy’s mother, but no arrests have been made, according to the Beijing News.
The footage was captured on May 7 by a neighbor living in the same housing complex in Xinyang City, Henan Province. The unidentified man told the Beijing News the abuse has been going on for about two months.
The neighbor, housing staff, security, and police all went to the woman’s home to check on the boy. But nobody answered the door and the police gave up after a second attempt of contacting the family.
A Mother Beats Her Son
The boy is seen standing alone on a balcony, with his hands tied up.“He’s about four- to five-years-old,” the man who recorded the incident told the Beijing News. “At the time, there was this white stuff tied around his hands, maybe cloth, he was out there the whole morning.”
The boy screamed wildly as the woman picked him up by the legs, suspending him upside down.
“All of what I saw was her using her hands to beat him, while she hung him upside down,” the man said.
“The main thing is that it was for a long time, it went on for the whole morning,” the man told Beijing News. “The boy didn’t have clothes on. It’s cold here in Xinyang today, it is cloudy and the temperature had dropped. When I was recording the video from inside the house, I even felt cold.”
“I can’t even imagine for the kid who was stuck outside for several hours.”
The eyewitness reported the abuse to the building management and security, and the police.
When they came to the woman’s home, she refused to open the door—even after the police came a second time.
The man wrote in a post on Weibo, China’s version of Twitter, that this wasn’t the first time the child was treated this way. “There have been four times this happened in the past two months,” he wrote in a screen capture of a post he made to Weibo, reported by the Beijing News.
He went on to say that almost every day, he can hear the boy crying when he walks downstairs, and that it often happens in the morning, between 7 to 11 a.m.
The police have not arrested the woman for beating her son, according to the Beijing News.
