On numerous occasions since 2012, vandals have physically harassed and threatened Falun Gong adherents and damaged their Truth Clarification Sites in Hong Kong.
The Epoch Times in Hong Kong has reported such stories in Hong Kong, even under the social turmoil of recent years.
For instance, The Epoch Times printing plant in Hong Kong, run by Falun Gong adherents, was attacked on April 12, 2021. On another occasion, Epoch Times reporter, Sarah Liang, was beaten with a baseball bat by an attacker in May 2021. The attacker is still at large.
Justice Finally Comes
On Dec. 8, three suspected attackers, Hu Aimin, Zhou Yonglin, and Zhuo Jinseng, were charged with two counts of criminal damage in the Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court.Defendant Zhou Yonglin, 43, a decoration worker, pleaded guilty and will be sentenced on Jan. 4, 2023, after the trial of the other two participants who pleaded not guilty. Their case will be heard on Jan. 4, 2023. Compensation for the victims will also be dealt with at that time.
The three defendants have been released on HK$300 (about $38.6) bail.
Ten Attacks in One Week
Within one week on either side of the April 2021 incident, at least six Falun Gong information sites in Hong Kong were vandalized 10 times. The police announced that they made multiple reports on April 2 and 3 at sites vandalized in Mong Kok, Wong Tai Sin, Hung Hom, and Wan Chai, including more than 90 banners and printed promotional materials. The property losses involved about US$3,850, and the police arrested eight suspects.
Attackers Have a Triad Background
The Epoch Times reporter learned from police at the time that most people involved had triad (gang member) backgrounds.Hu Aimin, one of the defendants in this separate case, destroyed Falun Gong’s information sites five times in Dec. 2019.
In a court hearing related to this separate case on Dec. 1, he was sentenced to two weeks in prison and given a 30-month suspended sentence. Hu claimed that he would lodge an appeal.
Those Attackers are Just Scapegoats
Ms. Chow, a Falun Gong practitioner who attended the case, told the Epoch Times she believes that the attackers were just scapegoats. She said she hoped those who had been poisoned by the CCP’s lies and used by its agents would stop doing bad things for the CCP and working for it.
Zhou Yongkang, a former senior leader of the CCP; Bo Xilai, a former Chinese politician who was convicted on bribery and embezzlement charges; Tomson Dongsheng Li, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TCL Corporation; and other corrupt public officials who suppressed Falun Gong, are serving prison sentences for corruption and various other charges.
Ms. Chow also said that Falun Gong is practiced by 100 million people all over the world. It has improved people’s health and morality and has been praised by politicians in many countries.
About Falun Gong
Falun Gong is a spiritual practice introduced by its founder, Mr. Li Hongzhi, in China in 1992. It includes five qigong exercises (including meditation) and guides practitioners to improve their character by following three tenets of the belief: truthfulness, compassion, and forbearance. According to the CCP’s internal statistics, the number of Falun Gong practitioners in mainland China reached 70 to 100 million in 1999.Former CCP leader Jiang Zemin and others launched a political campaign to persecute Falun Gong in 1999 and staged the “Tiananmen Square Self-immolation” case to slander Falun Gong. The CCP’s organ harvesting of living Falun Gong practitioners has also been exposed internationally. United Nations human rights experts and parliaments of many countries have issued statements calling for investigations.
