The screening, hosted by the Ending Forced Organ Harvesting Rotary Satellite Club of CAAHT (Community Action Against Human Trafficking) at Goldey Beacom College’s event center on April 10, was co-sponsored by the college.
The documentary sheds light on the Chinese communist regime’s practice of forcibly harvesting organs from prisoners of conscience. People from all over the world have been traveling to China for organ transplants without realizing that these organs are sourced from murdered prisoners of conscience.
The event was moderated by Rick Jensen, an award-winning talk show host from WDEL in Delaware. Over 60 people attended and engaged in discussions with three panelists, including a survivor of religious persecution in China, William Huang.
Speak Up and Do the Right Thing: Delaware Rep.
“There’s a resolution from the house; we are just bringing awareness and education. Its resolutions in the house are opportunities for us to educate, let people get engaged, and then see where they can go with it often to do something kind and something good, which is extremely important.” Delaware state Rep. Michael Ramone, who is introducing a resolution to condemn forced organ harvesting and was the VIP speaker of the event, told The Epoch Times.According to the bill, it is illegal in Texas for health insurance providers to fund organ transplants using organs originating from China or any other country that’s known to be involved in the practice of forced organ harvesting.
Mr. Ramone mentioned that he resubmitted a concurrent resolution from the House and the Senate this week to get more attention and at least force a discussion on it.
“It’s time we need to do something. It’s been too long. And for those to be scared away, all because they’re in a political position. They feel like they may have repercussions on their political career. It’s wrong; we must speak up, work together, and educate. And most importantly, we need to do the right thing. And in this environment, being kind, doing the right thing, and saving this atrocity from moving forward needs to take place,” said Mr. Ramone.
“But there are so many people, I’m afraid, in our country who are maybe even somehow contributing to this environment, as we just watched,” said Mr. Ramone, concerned about those traveling to China for faster organ transplants. “With absolutely no knowledge that they’re doing that, if they wish to do that, I'd at least like them to know what they’re doing and maybe have correct behavior.”
GBC President: Raising Awareness
“I’ve known about it for a while but didn’t understand its depth. You hear these things and think, oh, they can’t happen. But then, the more you get, the more you understand, and the more you realize just how awful [forced organ harvesting] is. And it all gets back to power and control. Instead of letting people live their lives, the power and the control and the ability to make more money by grabbing somebody, harvesting their organs, and killing them. It’s just an easy way for them to make money, which makes no sense. It’s horrible, and it needs to stop; it just needs to stop,” Colleen Perry Keith, the president of GBC, told The Epoch Times after the screening.GBC was one of the sponsors of the documentary screening event. As the president of GBC and experienced educator, Ms. Keith thinks it’s essential to let the students be aware of what’s going on about the inhumane crime of forced organ harvesting. “Let students understand what the issue is, and we had probably half a dozen students here tonight, and one of our faculty members, I think, raising the level of awareness of what’s going on, we'll start to mobilize students, I think the more people that understand the more action that eventually will be taken, I think people will begin to work together collectively,” she said.
Ms. Keith mentioned that China’s regime has penetrated the U.S. higher education system: “I remember, at a previous college, we had a Confucius Institute, and we decided to close it down and not participate in that program any longer. And it was tough to close because the Chinese government wanted to have these Confucius Institutes on college campuses.”
Assistant Professor: The Truth Should Be Brought to Light
Dr. Scott Glenn, the assistant professor of business at GBC and former U.S. Marine, told the Epoch Times that he has expressed concern about forced organ harvesting for years. He mentioned he previously discussed forced organ harvesting with his students, and just last week, he addressed the issue in class. However, he was taken aback today upon discovering the immense scale of forced organ harvesting in China.
“The truth should be brought to light,” said Mr. Glenn. He thinks it’s important to spread the truth from an educational aspect: “In every institution, it starts with our government like we’re talking about at the local state and national federal levels. But most important is education.”
US Senate Candidate: Action Must Be Taken
“I’m glad I went to this event tonight; it taught me so much about organ harvesting and how necessary it is that we stop this and the ethnic cleansing in China. It’s such a shame, and we must do something about it as quickly as possible,” Eric Hansen, a candidate running for the U.S. Senate, told The Epoch Times.Mr. Hansen stated that what impresses him the most is how little people know about forced organ harvesting happening in China, “Because it’s such a, if there have been hundreds of thousands of people, maybe a million or more people killed for organs in China, and it’s a multibillion-dollar industry. And yet, very few people in the United States know about this. That’s shocking. And it just keeps going on. That’s disturbing.”
Mr. Hansen pointed out that the root cause of these tragedies was the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). “As someone pointed out in the session tonight, the people in China are different from the CCP. So, it’s a whole issue wrapped all around the Communist Party of China, and how we have to get them the government to stop doing this,” he stated.
“But the fact that there’s any ethnic cleansing going on at all is shocking. And the fact that they keep persecuting religious groups is alarming. And, you must wonder, when will it stop? I mean, is there anyone safe in China?” said Mr. Hansen.
As a U.S. Senate candidate, Mr. Hansen said he would support passing a bill to stop organ harvesting.
New Castle Council Candidate: Make More People Aware
“You look back on Germany with Dr. Mengele and his experiments; this is blood money. At the expense of these innocent people trying to practice their own beliefs, and it is just very saddening,” Michael Senisch, a candidate for New Castle Council, told The Epoch Times after watching the documentary.“I’m hoping that our government does stand up,” Mr. Senisch stated, “We can get in touch with Senators Coons and Carper to initiate bills that will get this going and speak out to the CCP that we will not tolerate this; we will not acknowledge. There’s no reason for this.”
Mr. Senisch believes that the CCP’s crime of forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China is a crime of mass extermination. “With these people, they’re creating a belief system and a spirituality system. And I think it is genocide because they’re trying to eliminate a whole group of people. So, it does fit the explanation or definition of genocide. We must step out, step up, and make more people aware.”
State Senate Candidate: The Truth Needs to Be Told
“I was shocked at some of the information that I heard tonight. I didn’t know how evil the CCP was. It isn’t perfect. And it’s awful that people live in a country where those things are being done to them.” Brenda Mennella, a middle school teacher planning to run for state senate in Delaware, told The Epoch Times.“I was very heartbroken. And I just felt like there, I want to do something; I need to know what to do. I feel that many people need to know what’s going on. And the more people that know about it, the greater the opportunity for things to change,” said Mrs. Mennella.
Video Producer: Stop Selling Transplant Equipment to China
“The CCP is evil. We know this. They do wrong things. They should not do this. And they lie about it.” John Yaschur, a retired video producer, told The Epoch Times.Mr. Yaschur thinks the U.S. government should act: “And they have to take action by stopping the businesses who sell China, the equipment and the medical equipment they need.”
“Stopping the companies in America, selling to the Chinese government, the equipment to do transplants and the equipment that they need in the hospitals to do these things. That’s the only way to stop it. And to penalize the companies here for selling these things to China. That would be a good thing to help slow it down and stop it.” “Stop selling the equipment, making people aware, and making other governments aware,” said Mr. Yaschur.
