Officials in Chicago confirmed that separate shootings over the weekend left dozens injured and six dead, local media reported.

From Friday to Monday morning, 33 people were shot across Chicago, police told the Chicago Sun-Times on Monday. Two young girls, aged 3 and 6, were counted among the victims who were shot and injured.

Police said that most of the incidents occurred on the South and West sides—areas that are known to have high violent crime rates. Several people were also shot in the city’s North Side and in Old Town, officials said.

On Monday morning, a man was shot and killed inside a vehicle in North Park, officials said, adding that they responded to gunfire in the 3400 block of West Catalpa Avenue. That’s when they discovered a man, 28, with a gunshot wound to the face at around 4 a.m. local time.

Hours before that, at around 9 p.m. Sunday, a 40-year-old man was killed and two others were injured after a shooter opened fire on them while they were congregated around a porch on South Deering in the city’s Far South Side, officials said.

Officials said that at around the same time, in Douglas Park, a 67-year-old male was killed and another man was critically injured when someone opened fire at them while they were on a porch in the 1600 block of South Washtenaw Avenue. The suspect was inside a black sedan, police told the Sun-Times.

Also on Sunday at around 11 p.m., Juan Antonio Gonzalez-Ramirez, 30, was shot and killed during a dispute between two groups in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood, police said.

A 26-year-old male, meanwhile, was killed while walking in West Garfield Park on Sunday night at 10 p.m., said police. He was walking on North Kenton Avenue when a group of people exited from a vehicle and fired shots at him, authorities confirmed.

A 41-year-old male was shot and killed on Saturday in Homan Square on the city’s West Side, authorities said. He was in the back of his home when someone fired shots, hitting him in the back, police said.

Officials told ABC7 Chicago that a 6-year-old girl was grazed by a bullet on Saturday afternoon in Calumet Heights. She was in the backyard of a home when a bullet struck her thigh. Police said she’s in good condition.
In another incident, a 3-year-old girl was struck by gunfire while inside her Longwood Manor home on Monday morning, authorities told the broadcaster. Two male suspects fired into the home at around 2:30 a.m. The child was grazed in the buttocks and was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was said to be in good condition, said officials.
Meanwhile, a Chicago man was arrested last Thursday after he shot and injured a U.S. Marshal and his dog while he was serving a warrant for his arrest. Tarrion Johnson, 19, was taken into custody right after he opened fire in the 5200 block of West Belmont around 1:20 p.m., Chicago police told Fox News.
