The Los Angeles Police Department on Nov. 13 released security video showing a man held at gunpoint and robbed by a group of men while he was sitting on a restaurant patio in Sherman Oaks.
The armed robbery happened on Sept. 21 around 2:30 a.m. local time near the intersection of Ventura Boulevard and Van Nuys Boulevard, according to a police report.
The report says five suspects exited a local restaurant, walking past a man sitting in the open patio area. Then three of the five suspects walked back into the restaurant to attack the victim.
Video footage of the attack shows that three of the suspects slowed down at the front door and waited for another two customers to walk out of the restaurant. After that, one suspect suddenly drew a handgun from his waist and approached the victim. The other two suspects followed.
The victim barely had time to defend himself, with the gun pointed at him. The two other suspects quickly took his possessions out of his hands and pockets. The video also shows the suspect who held the gun attempting to take off a watch from victim’s wrist.
After the suspect got the watch, police said that the three suspects “entered a 2012-2014 white four-door Mercedes-Benz C-Class, driven by the fourth suspect, and fled the scene.”
In addition, another suspect waited in a white Infiniti QX70, which was parked across the street from the awaiting white Mercedes-Benz during the robbery.
After the four suspects fled the scene in the white Mercedes-Benz, police said, the white Infiniti SUV also fled the scene behind the white Mercedes-Benz.
The five male suspects are believed to be between the ages of 20 to 25. Police described the two get-away vehicles as a 2012-2014 white Mercedes-Benz C-Class four-door with tinted windows and a 2013-2017 white Infiniti QX70 (SUV) with black wheels and tinted windows.
