California has been seeing more and more strikes in recent months. In today’s episode, Steve sits down with Peter Pusateri, Business Manager and Financial Secretary with IBEW Local 1269, to talk about the good, the bad and the ugly of unions in California.

How did labor unions become so powerful with only 17% of the workers being part of unions?

According to Pusateri, the union that he is part of, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) has over a 100,000 members that are in the movie industry business, radio, television, utilities, construction, so there is a lot of power connected with the industry as well as the workers.

“Those workers elect the officials who elect the officials who elect the officials back to Washington DC”, said Pusateri.
