The dramatic epic film “The World Moves On” from 1934 was the first movie made according to the Motion Picture Production Code. It stars Franchot Tone as an American man in 1825 and his great-grandson in 1914, both named Richard Girard; Madeleine Carroll plays an English woman both in 1825 and in 1914, as Richard’s business partner and love interest. This is a timeless movie that marked the beginning of the Golden Era of Hollywood, which would leave an indelible mark on the film industry and the country.
