Few movies from Hollywood’s Golden Era of the Motion Picture Production Code (1934-1954) include ghosts as prominent characters, but that’s just one of the reasons why this 20th Century Fox film is a masterpiece. The Ghost and Mrs. Muir from 1947 stars classic actors Rex Harrison and Gene Tierney as the title characters with direction by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and dramatic scoring by Bernard Hermann. Audience members of any age can enjoy this wholesome yet intelligent nautical-themed romance.
