“I think that’s the scariest part, because you just don’t know what’s coming at you,” said Brooke Slusser, a senior on San José State University’s (SJSU) volleyball team, when asked about her experience competing with a transgender athlete.

“When you have someone jumping so much higher than any woman on the court and swinging at the ball so much harder than any woman on the court ... you can’t really defend yourself,” she said.

In today’s episode, Slusser will share her experience on and off the court and explain why she joined a lawsuit aimed at protecting women’s sports under Title IX of the NCAA rules.

“It was honestly really heartbreaking ... someone who sat on the couch all summer made it look easy. They weren’t even breathing heavily afterward. And for me, I trained a minimum of twice a week and was dying every time I did it,” she shared, reflecting on her struggles.
