A 35-year-old man was found mauled to death Feb. 16 by pit bulls in his Compton backyard, according to authorities.
The man succumbed to severe dog bite wounds by several dogs. He had been breeding 13 pit bulls for sale.
Police were able to obtain partial surveillance footage of the incident. An officer said the dogs started to attack the victim Feb. 15 between 7:30 to 8 p.m. when he was feeding them.
The father of the victim agreed to give the dogs over to the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control, which then collected the animals.
“Our deepest sympathies are extended to the family and friends of the victim,” the department’s Director Marcia Mayeda said in a statement. “We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine the facts and ensure the safety and well-being of both the community and the animals involved.”
No further information has been released as to whether they will be euthanized or not.
