A Los Angeles Police Department officer was attacked and injured at a Metro train station in North Hollywood, and the suspect was arrested, authorities said Jan. 5.
The crime occurred about 11:45 p.m. Thursday at the station in the 5300 block of Lankershim Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). The name of the suspect was not immediately available for release.
According to the LAPD, the officer suffered a leg injury and was taken to a hospital. Fox11 reported that the officer suffered a broken leg, and will be off duty until his injury heals.
The incident happened when the officer was conducting an “end-of-the-line check,” meaning that the train was at the end of its line and needed to be taken out for service for cleaning and maintenance, Channel 11 reported.
Investigators told Fox11 that the suspect, a homeless man who earlier had another encounter with police, was cited and ordered out of the Metro Station. However, the suspect did not want to get off the train and began fighting with officers, Fox11 reported.
