Two home invasions occurred early Saturday when intruders at first entered the wrong home and encountered a sleeping family of seven, before locating their target next door with a single resident inside, according to the Tehama County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office said in a press release Feb. 24 that deputies were notified around 4 a.m. and sent to the area of Proberta Road and San Benito Avenue in Gerber, a small city in central Northern California, for a reported single-home invasion before discovering another took place at an adjacent home.
At the first home, “several adults were beaten, bound, and held at gunpoint” by at least three adult, male intruders, according to the press release, which didn’t mention if the children at the home were harmed. The suspects allegedly demanded money before leaving.
The intruders then moved to an adjacent home, which was allegedly the home they intended to invade, and entered through a broken window. Inside, they held the single occupant at gunpoint and stole personal belongings, according to the press release.

The Tehama Major Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation, according to the press release.
