A former paramedic who burglarized a 90-year-old woman’s home in Rancho Bernardo, a residential community in northeast San Diego, the day after he had responded to a medical emergency at the location was sentenced Feb. 29 to four years in state prison.
Nicholas Conniry, 44, entered a guilty plea of burglary and other charges at his sentencing.
Mr. Conniry was part of a paramedics team who responded to a medical emergency call at the woman’s Casero Road home the night of July 3, 2023.
The woman had called on behalf of her husband, who was having a medical emergency.
She testified Mr. Conniry, in uniform, returned the following morning and tried to break into her home.
She said he told her, at the time, he had returned to collect more information to complete a report, about the emergency call the day before.
The woman testified she told Mr. Conniry to leave, which he did.
Later, he returned again while the woman was away, but was confronted by a neighbor. He once again said that he had returned to gather more information.
Later, the woman called the police and Mr. Conniry was then arrested for burglary, NBC San Diego reported.
