LOS ANGELES—Some lingering rain and mountain snow are expected in Southern California Sunday, but dry and cool weather should prevail for most of the week with the exception of March 6, forecasters said Saturday.
Sunday’s forecast calls for a 20 percent chance of showers in the morning, with highs in the 50s and 60s and winds of 15 to 25 mph, increasing to 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 60 mph in the mountains and the Antelope Valley, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).
Los Angeles County got a steady dose of rain Saturday. Most areas saw anywhere from a quarter to a third of an inch in a 12-hour period, with the San Gabriel coastal slopes and foothill communities seeing three-quarters of an inch to 1.5 inches, the NWS said.
Forecasters said up to 5 additional inches of snow could fall across the eastern San Gabriel Mountains above 5,000 feet, and this snow combined with strong expected gusts is the basis for a winter storm warning in effect there through Sunday morning.
Wednesday’s rain is expected to be light, with totals most likely under 1 inch.
Overnight lows will mostly be in the 40s and lower 50s throughout the week. In the high desert, temperatures will dip into the 20s and 30s Sunday night.
