6-Year-Old Child Killed, Woman Seriously Hurt by Vehicle in Pomona

POMONA, Calif.—Police on May 29 were investigating a fatal accident in Pomona, where a vehicle struck and killed a 6-year-old child and seriously injured a woman.

The child was later identified as Guadalupe Alvarez Salgado of Pomona, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Officers from the Pomona Police Department responded at 8:02 p.m. Tuesday to the area of Towne and Lexington avenues regarding two pedestrians being involved in a collision. When they arrived, they found the woman and child in the roadway near Towne, according to the police department.

Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were called and pronounced the girl dead at the scene. The woman was taken to a hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The driver of the vehicle who hit the pedestrians remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The crash is being investigated by the department’s Major Accident Investigation Team. Anyone with information about the accident was asked to call the Pomona Police Department’s Traffic Services Bureau at 909-802-7741 or 909-620-2048.
