Armed Suspect Killed, Deputy Injured in Shooting Near Long Beach

LONG BEACH, Calif.—A man armed with a knife was killed during a shooting involving a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy at the Long Beach-Bellflower border, and authorities March 20 are continuing their investigation of the shooting.

Deputies from the Lakewood Station were called at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday to the 15900 block of Indiana Avenue in Paramount regarding a restraining order violation call. Upon their arrival, they spoke to the victim and observed the suspect drive past the residence, but lost sight of him shortly thereafter, the sheriff’s department said.
