The Los Angeles Angels and right-hander Zach Plesac have agreed on a one-year, $1 million deal.

In a corresponding move, the team outrighted left-handed reliever Adam Kolarek to Triple-A Salt Lake on Saturday, Jan. 13.

Plesac, who turns 29 this month, was selected by Cleveland in the 12th round of the 2016 MLB Draft out of Ball State and spent part of five seasons with the franchise.

In five seasons with the Guardians, he was 26-27 with a 4.20 ERA in 84 games (83 starts). He struck out 359 batters in 466 2/3 innings.

In 2023, he started five games with the Guardians, posting 1-1 record with a 7.59 ERA in 21 1/3 innings. He appeared in 19 games (18 starts) for Triple-A Columbus and had a 5-6 record and 6.08 ERA in 94 2/3 innings.

He was not re-signed by the Guardians and became a free agent in October.

The Angels signed Kolarek, who turns 35 on Jan. 14, as a free agent in November.

He spent the 2023 season with the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Mets and didn’t give up a run in six innings spread over five relief appearances.

He has played in 175 games with the Tampa Bay Rays (2017-19), Dodgers (2019-20, 2023), Oakland Athletics (2021-22) and Mets and has an 11-4 record and 3.62 ERA with four saves.

Report: Dodgers, OF Teoscar Hernandez Agree to 1-year Deal

The Los Angeles Dodgers made another splash in free agency on Sunday night, with ESPN reporting that the club has agreed to a one-year, $23.5 million deal with former All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.

Los Angeles had already been busy this offseason, signing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani to a 10-year, $700 million contract before inking Japanese right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto to a 12-year deal worth $325 million.

The Dodgers also acquired right-hander Tyler Glasnow and outfielder Manuel Margot in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays last month.

Now Los Angeles is adding even more firepower to its lineup, as Hernandez comes off a 2023 season in which he hit .258 with 26 homers and 93 RBIs in 160 games with the Seattle Mariners.

Hernandez, 31, finished 11th in American League MVP voting in 2020 and was named an All-Star in 2021 when he was with the Toronto Blue Jays.

In 811 major league games with the Houston Astros (2016-17), Blue Jays (2017-22) and Mariners (2023), Hernandez has 159 home runs, 473 RBIs, 422 runs and 768 hits.

He is a career .261 hitter with a .486 slugging percentage.
