Updated:
Based on early tabulation, turnout among Los Angeles County voters was 17.89 percent in the March 5 primary, according to unofficial results from the county registrar.

Out of 5,681,184 registered voters, 1,016,574 cast ballots, according to preliminary data—either by mail, submitting their ballot at a certified drop box, or voting in person at a vote center.

Here are updated results, as of 4:31 p.m. March 6, per registrar officials. March 29 is the last day the election must be certified.

District Attorney

Incumbent George Gascón, considered by his critics a “soft-on-crime” DA and a contributing factor to LA’s growing public safety concerns, is leading the race, followed by former federal prosecutor Nathan Hochman and 10 other candidates, including five from his office and two Los Angeles County Superior Court judges, in the March 5 primary.

Occupying a seat held by black leaders for 30 years, incumbent Holly J. Mitchell is on track to retain her seat, despite a 2021 redistricting moved some largely white neighborhoods such as Manhattan Beach into District 2. Ms. Mitchell’s three challengers are consultant Daphne D. Bradford, business owner and lone white candidate Clint D. Carlton, and nonprofit chief executive Katrina Williams.
