SANTA MONICA, Calif.—A fight involving about 20 men near the Santa Monica Pier Saturday afternoon, June 29, left one man with a stab wound, one man with a possibly broken ankle, and five men in custody.

The “altercation” occurred around 2:20 p.m. Saturday, Santa Monica police Officer D. Hodgson told City News Service.

The fight was near Tower 14, north of the pier, police said.

“I can confirm one victim had an injury consistent with a stab wound,” Mr. Hodgson said.

The wound was not believed life-threatening. The two injured men had been involved in the fight and were not bystanders.

The injured men were taken to hospitals for treatment.

Three of the five men arrested were booked for assault with a deadly weapon, police said. One man was booked for battery, and the other for sexual battery. The details about the sexual battery were not provided.

The fight remained under investigation, police said.
