Travel

The Thanksgiving weekend, with schools closed on Thursday and Friday, is among the busiest times of the year for traveling.

AAA projects that a record 79.9 million people will travel over 50 miles, including for the first time, on the Tuesday before and Monday after Thanksgiving. This marks an increase of 1.7 million travelers from last year and 2 million more than in 2019.

Tips for Travelers:
  • Plan ahead: Given the high volume of travelers, plan your route and accommodations in advance.
  • Check store hours: If you need to shop on Thanksgiving Day, verify store hours as they may vary by location.
  • Stay informed: Monitor traffic and weather conditions to ensure a safe journey.

Banks and Stock Market

  • U.S. stock markets and banks are closed on Thursday; however, markets will reopen on Friday for a shortened trading day, wrapping up at 1 p.m. ET.
Government offices, post offices, courts, and schools are closed.
