Two employees at Reyes Coca-Cola bottling company in downtown Los Angeles are on sick leave after having contracted COVID-19, the company announced on Thursday, promising to ramp up the already stiff hygiene policy.

COVID-19 is caused by the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, also referred to as the novel coronavirus.

The company issued a statement on Thursday.

“As part of our commitment to transparency and public safety, we have notified our employees and local health authorities of two confirmed COVID-19 cases out of our downtown Los Angeles facility,” the statement said.

The statement also said that its facilities would undergo another round of deep-cleaning, even though the two had not been at the facility in the past two weeks.

“While neither of our employees have been in our facility in two weeks, we ensured a thorough deep cleaning, with EPA-registered disinfectants, of our facility,“ the statement said. ”All of this is on top of daily screenings for employees and approved visitors at our production facilities and existing robust health and safety protocols across all facilities, which we continue to review and assess.”

CBS reported both infected employees are currently at home on sick leave and under the supervision of their individual health professionals. The outlet also stated that those employees who have been in the vicinity of the two were contacted.

“Our thoughts are with our employees and their families. We have taken—and will continue to implement—all necessary precautionary measures while also following the advice of public health officials.”

As of Sunday, there were 5,940 cases of the CCP virus in Los Angeles County, while 132 had succumbed to COVID-19.

Incidentally, also on Thursday, at another Coca Cola bottling plant in Sandston, Virginia, another two workers tested positive for the CCP virus, a spokesperson confirmed to WTVR.

“We can confirm that two teammates from our Sandston facility tested positive for COVID-19,“ a spokesperson for Coca-Cola Consolidated responded via email when the newspaper reached out for a reaction about the test results. ”Our teammates have received medical care, and we wish them a quick recovery,” it said.
