Stanley Dishon was indicted Wednesday in the cold case kidnapping and murder of his niece, Jessica Dishon, 17, in Bullitt County, Ky.

The 17-year-old was kidnapped, beaten, and finally strangled to death in 1999.

At a news conference about the indictment, the Bullitt County sheriff broke down in tears as he described the resolution.

In 2009, 10 years after she was murdered, Jessica’s family spoke to the Courier-Journal

Her mother, Edna Dishon, said at the time, “It’s just like a standstill. ... I think it would be easier if there was justice done.”

The girl’s neighbor, David “Bucky” Brooks, who was once charged with her murder had also been frustrated at the standstill.

A month ago, Stanley Dishon, who was her stepfather’s brother, was indicted in a separate case of sexually abusing an 11-year-old girl, reports WAVE3
