Bones season 9 is nearing its end and fans of the Fox show is wondering whether there will be a season 10.
The good news is that there will be at least another season as the show was renewed based on its continued success.
Over the course of nine seasons, Bones has grown from a hit crime procedural into a beloved pillar of our lineup that resonates with fans in a way that only the best of shows can,” said Fox Chairman Kevin Reilly in a statement. “Our viewers have embraced Emily, David and the entire cast and characters of Bones as their very own, and I think they are going to love what Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan have planned for Season 10!”
It looks probable that season 10 will be the last season, based on comments from people involved with the show including Reilly, who called it “likely” that it would be the last season.
The storylines for season 10 have already been on the minds of executive producers Hanson and Nathan.
“I think that if Season 10 is our final season then at least the macro version of what I had in mind, we'll be able to use,” Hanson told Zap2It. “If we go past Season 10, the series will need a bit of an invention.”
Hanson added to TVGuide that he’s had a plan since season 4 on how to wrap up the forensics drama.
He’s imaging a special episode leading up to the finale that would find Brennan and Booth looking back on and evaluating their work together.
“It would take place in a spooky world where all the victims they got justice for show up, perhaps as ghosts,” Hanson says. “And a few bad [guys], too.”
Topping the list would be missing Senate intern Cleo Eller, the show’s first victim; the young coin collector Lionel Little from the first Christmas episode; and Chelsea, the sick girl whose mother had AIDS and killed her in season 2.
