Betty Garrett, the singing and dancing actress of stage and screen, died in Los Angeles on Saturday morning at age 91, her son Garrett Parks told ABC News.

Garrett, who died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center of an aortic aneurysm, was in good health until she was sent to the hospital Friday with heart troubles. She died with her family by her side.

The comedic actress even went to dinner with friends and taught her weekly music comedy class at Theatre West—a theater she helped found half a century ago—on Wednesday, Feb. 9, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Garrett was best known for starring in the sitcoms Laverne & Shirley and All in the Family, as well as for her roles in the late ‘40s MGM musicals Take Me Out to the Ballgame and On The Town. She had starred opposite Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton, and Gene Kelly.

Garrett started her career on Broadway before making it to the small screen. She made her Broadway debut in 1942 in Of V We Sing.

Her husband, Larry Parks, died in 1975 at age 60.

Betty Garrett is survived by her sons Andrew and Garrett Parks and her granddaughter Madison.
