Baby born 15 pounds, 7 ounces: A U.K. baby was described as being one of the largest ever natural births, weighing in at 15 pounds, 7 ounces.
The BBC reported that George King was born six weeks ago to Jade Packer and Ryan King, who both appear to be normal-sized adults.
His parents said that because no one thought George would be so large, it was difficult to deliver him.
He went without oxygen for 10 minutes and was given a 10 percent chance of survival when he was born. He was later transferred to a hospital in Bristol, where his parents are from, and was allowed to come home more than a month later.
He got stuck during the delivery and stopped breathing.
“When his head was out that’s when they realized he was so big,” Packer told the BBC. “When his shoulders got stuck, that when everything kicked off. There was about 20 odd doctors in the room. That’s when it got really scary.”
She was in labor for around 16 hours before George was delivered.
“It was a massive shock for everyone – no one had any idea he would be this big,” Packer told the Bristol Post. “During the pregnancy I was just getting bigger and bigger.”
But the ordeal “makes it even more special to have him home now after all he has been through,” she continued, according to the the Post.
His father said that “it was scary” when George got stuck. “But now we are home, we are getting used to family life together. Everyone has said his size will level out and he will grow at a normal rate,” he said.
Little George was called the second-largest ever baby that was born naturally, according to MSN.
