“This was the perfect thing to bring her to,” Miss Yu said, gesturing to her young daughter. “I brought my daughter [to Shen Yun] because it’s a combination of her two greatest fascinations right now: dance and China.”

NEW YORK—Shen Yun Performing Arts transported the audience at Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater through 5,000 years of Chinese culture with classical Chinese dance and music on Sunday.

Among the crowd was Grace Yu, an award winning photographer, who has worked with Yoko Ono. Miss Yu has also served as a member of President Clinton’s White House team.

“This was the perfect thing to bring her to,” Miss Yu said, gesturing to her young daughter. “I brought my daughter because it’s a combination of her two greatest fascinations right now: dance and China.”

In addition to classical Chinese dance and ethnic dances, Shen Yun performs a variety of legendary folk dances, which tell a humorous story ending with a positive lesson.
