Zsa Zsa Gabor left the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and returned to her Bel Air mansion in Los Angeles on Saturday, eight days after her right leg was amputated on Jan. 14.
Doctors were pleased with Gabor’s progress and allowed her to go home a week earlier than expected, her spokesman, John Blanchette, told People magazine.
Gabor needed the amputation after she developed gangrene from a blood clot in her leg after her hip-replacement surgery in July of last year. Gabor was hospitalized on Jan. 2 after antibiotics failed to save her leg, according to the BBC.
Blanchette told the BBC that Gabor’s 67-year-old husband, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, said over the weekend that his wife was “feisty, yelling at nurses, and at him. Everything is back to normal.”
The former actress, who was once also Miss Hungary, turns 94 in February. She has survived many injuries and illnesses. In 2002, she suffered injuries from a car accident that put her in a wheelchair, then a stroke in 2005, and a hip replacement in 2010.
Gabor, who rose to fame in the 1950s, starred in movies such as Moulin Rouge, Queen of Outer Space, Lili, Death of a Scoundrel, and Touch of Evil.
