Zsa Zsa Gabor is back in the hospital for a partial amputation of her right leg.
The former actress was admitted to the hospital in Los Angeles and was being prepared for surgery on Sunday evening, her husband Frederic Prinz von Anhalt told Reuters.
Gabor, 93, has been in and out of the hospital since July when she broke her hip. She had hip replacement surgery, followed by an infection, and then a blood clot for which she needed further surgery.
Now, her lower right leg has a lesion with imminent gangrene and requires amputation below the knee.
Gabor’s representative, John Blanchette, told Reuters that successful surgery could add a few more years to her life.
Blanchette said Gabor had wished to celebrate the New Year quietly at home and has been frail but alert, according to the Los Angeles Times.
