Microsoft has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season as the NPD market research firm is saying that the company sold 1.2 million consoles during November. The strong sales are directly related to the $50 price cut by Microsoft and the bundle deals available as well.
The Xbox One is said to be the top selling console during the month of November, topping the PS4 and the Wii U but figures for those consoles were not released. Microsoft sent out the statistics in an email and Mike Nichols corporate vice president for Xbox marketing, stated the following:
Response to the holiday lineup of games on Xbox One was incredible, with Xbox One fans buying more games in November in the U.S. than any other gen eight platform and enjoying over 357 million hours of gameplay globally
The strong sales are a direct result of the companies aggressive tactics with the console that got off to a rough start with a lack of vision for the device based on its E3 announcement. Since then, the console has trailed behind Sony’s PS4.
