The Witches of East End season 2 finale is on Sunday night and fans are wondering if the Lifetime series will be canceled or renewed.
The network hasn’t made an official announcement either way, but Madchen Amick (Wendy Beauchamp) says that “we are all very optimistic that we will continue on.”
“We hope all the viewers keep chiming in and campaigning for season 3,” she told Entertainment Weekly.
She also confirmed that the season 2 finale has a “shocking” cliffhanger.
Friedman told fans recently via Twitter that “we need a season 3” to tell more “Frillian stories,” with some of the shows writers revealing that several time travel scenarios include Dash as a Nazi.
The ratings for season 2 have dropped, but perhaps not significantly enough for a cancellation.
Season 1, with 10 episodes, came in at 1.9 million overall viewers per episode, including 0.7 million in the key 18-49 demographic.
Season 2, with 13 episodes, has averaged 1.1 million with 0.5 million in the key demographic.
If there isn’t a season 3, Amick told Zap2It that fans wouldn’t be satisfied with the ending left by season 2.
“I think it‘ll be fans in a frenzy, not gonna lie. It’s so great. It’s incredibly satisfying, but of course, in good ’Witches’ fashion, there are a few new storylines that are opened up that you just have to see how they’re resolved,” she said.
Witches of East Ends features an ensemble cast, including Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan Tatum, and Rachel Boston as witches with ancient magical powers.
The story is based on Melissa de la Cruz’s novel.
