White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has disdain for President Donald Trump’s success.
Last week, a reporter asked Pelosi about whether she “hates” Trump after she made an announcement of pressing forward on drafting articles of impeachment against the president.
“I don’t know. I don’t know what she hates. I think she hates his success. I think the entire Democratic Party hate his success. I believe that and actually speaking of the Clinton impeachment, Nancy Pelosi told Republicans that they all hated Bill Clinton at that time,” Grisham told Fox. “So, she’s had quite the evolution when it comes to impeachment and her thoughts on different things.”
She then returned to the podium and provided her response.
“I don’t hate anybody...not anybody in the world. So don’t you accuse me of any [hate],” Pelosi said. “I resent you using the word ‘hate’ in a sentence that addresses me,“ she added. ”I pray for the president all the time. So don’t mess with me when it comes to words like that.”
Rosen pressed on and said his question echoed claims by Trump and Republicans that the Democrats are moving to impeach Trump “because they don’t like the guy.”
“It has nothing to do with that,” a visibly upset Pelosi said. “I think the president is a coward when it comes to helping our kids who are afraid of gun violence. I think he is cruel when he doesn’t deal with helping our Dreamers, of which we are proud.”
Trump said that Pelosi’s comment during the press conference suggests she is cracking under the pressure of impeachment.
