The two massive tornadoes that have struck western Massachusetts have left at least four people dead and are causing weather panic along the North East, particularly in Boston and New York City.
The twin tornadoes wreaked a path of havoc across a 40-mile swatch of Western MA, destroying pretty much everything on their path including houses and buildings. The Boston Globe reported that two people were killed in Westfield, and one in Springfield.
Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick declared a state of emergency in the state of Massachusetts. CNN reported that the storm systems have moved East, and weather alerts have been posted for the coast all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. The tornado watches have been issued for as far as the state of Connecticut.
The towns of Springfield and Monson are reported to have suffered the heaviest damage from the tornado systems.
The Wall Street Journal reported that tornado watches have been announced for New York and New Jersey, while the Los Angeles Times reported that watches have been announced for most of Central and Northern California.
The monster tornadoes and the watches in New York and Boston areas come just weeks after the Joplin, Missouri tornadoes, where the final death count from the tornadoes has been reported to be 134 people dead.
