IMSA Tudor United SportsCar Championship drivers Jordan Taylor, Ricky Taylor and Max Angelelli from the #10 Wayne Taylor Racing Dallara-Corvette have been moved from third place to last in the prototype class for exceeding maximum driver-time regulations in the Rolex 24 race, Jan. 24–25.
The #10 car had finished second in the 24-hour event after an emergency pit stop in the closing minutes of the race to avoid a driver-time violation, but it came too late. Jordan Taylor exceeded the maximum of four hours in a six-hour period and by about 17 minutes.
As a result the team was demoted from third place to 16th, last place in the Prototype class. The team had been winning the race before the emergency pit stop.
“IMSA conducted a thorough review of drive times post-race, which revealed that Jordan Taylor exceeded four hours over a six-hour period late in the race,” said IMSA Race Director Beaux Barfield in a press statement. “Drive-time maximums are in place to ensure that drivers do not get fatigued and create safety concerns, as well as to prevent any one driver from making too large a contribution to its team’s result.”
The team will forfeit third-place prize, will earn 16th-place instead of third-place series points, and will be scored last in the fourth segment North American Endurance Cup sub-series. All Prototype-class entries finishing behind the #10 WTR car will be advanced one position.
