Josh Smith was immediately effective in his Rockets debut, totaling 21 points, 8 rebs, and 3 assists on 9-of-21 shooting in 31 minutes off the bench.
The Rockets ended up beating the Memphis Grizzlies 117-111 in overtime. The loss was the 4th straight for the Grizzlies, and the win puts the Rockets a half game ahead of the Grizzlies for the #3 seed in the West.
Also for the Rockets, James Harden continued his all-NBA play with 32 points, 8 rebounds, and 10 assists, while Dwight Howard struggled with 6 points and 11 rebounds.
On joining a new team, Smith said,
“When you’re a professional, and you’ve played a lot of years, it’s not that hard, especially since you know a lot of the guys in the locker room. They helped me out when I was kind of lost our there.”
Harden added,
“We knew what he brought to the table. All he has to do is go out there and play his game.”
